Fast by design

Nothing but a Finder tag

Classification lives in the file itself, as a native macOS Finder tag — visible in Finder, Spotlight, and any tag-aware tool. The local cache is purely for speed; delete it and Nimble Photo rebuilds itself from your files in seconds.

One keystroke, no mouse

Single keystrokes (0–4) classify the highlighted photo instantly. Five color-coded categories match Finder's own tag colors, so nothing about the workflow feels bolted-on.

Categories, your way

Rename any of the four working categories to match how you work — colors and keystrokes stay put, and Nimble Photo safely migrates the tags on every already-classified file.

Browse like Finder

A three-pane layout — folder tree, filter bar, thumbnail grid — with zero learning curve. Photos sort by date taken automatically, and the grid updates live as files change on disk.

Built for big libraries

Tuned for 5,000 to 50,000+ images without stutter. Supports JPEG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, RAW (CR2, DNG, RAF), and video (MP4, MOV, M4V) — stills and clips in one unified grid and viewer.

Private by design

Fully sandboxed, App Store-distributed, no third-party dependencies. No account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, no network access — everything happens locally on your Mac.
